Privacy Policy for Your Account and Calls
We use account and caller information to provide your AI receptionist and manage your service. This policy explains what we collect, how long we keep it and how to request changes. Read it before trying the recorded browser demo.

Who handles your information
TypeScience, trading as After Hours Answering HQ, operates this website and the AI receptionist service. This policy covers information about website visitors, customers, people trying our demo and callers reaching a customer's business. You can send privacy questions or requests to [email protected].
Your relationship with us affects how we handle your information. When you visit our site or open an account, we handle the information needed for that relationship. When you call a customer's business, that business decides what information its receptionist collects and why, and we process the information on its behalf.
Account and billing information
We collect account details such as your name, business name, email address and phone number. We use those details to manage your account and provide the service you select. This includes account communications and the information needed to support your subscription.
Our payment processor handles billing information, and we do not store full card numbers. Account information and payment processing serve different purposes: your account identifies the business using the receptionist, while the payment processor handles payment. For help with an account or billing question, email [email protected].
Business information you provide
We collect the answers you give during onboarding and content from the business website you point us to. That information describes your services, hours, service area, price policy and instructions for urgent calls. We use it to prepare your receptionist to answer as your business.
Your instructions determine what the receptionist should ask and which calls need attention. For example, your urgent call rules identify who should receive a transfer or page and in what order. You can change settings by telling the AI what you want in plain words.
Information collected during calls
We collect caller numbers, call audio, recordings, transcripts and summaries when calls reach the service. These records support the receptionist's work, including taking messages, identifying urgency and passing details to your business. Your dashboard lets you review calls, transcripts and recordings.
Calls, website and demo chats, recordings, transcripts and summaries of trial and customer accounts may be reviewed by authorized staff for quality, support and abuse prevention. Access is limited to those purposes.
The greeting says that the receptionist is a virtual assistant and that the call is recorded. Both notices are part of the greeting and cannot be switched off. Callers hear them at the beginning of the call, including when a business forwards calls only after closing.
How call information reaches your business
We use call information to send email and app push alerts with a summary, urgency tag, transcript and recording. We also send a daily digest email. These messages let your business review what happened while its calls were forwarded to the receptionist.
Your urgent call instructions also determine how relevant details are passed to your on-call person. During a warm transfer, that person hears a short summary before choosing whether to accept the call. The business decides who receives these calls and the order in which the receptionist tries them.
Demo calls and website chats
We record and transcribe demo calls and chats on this site to show you the result. Trying the browser demo does not require signup, but the demonstration still involves recording and transcription. Use a fictional situation when you want to hear the receptionist without sharing details from a real customer call.
The demo is a way to evaluate the service before creating an account. Its call and chat content is information we collect, just as the account and business information described elsewhere in this policy is information we collect. Keep that in mind when choosing what to say or type during a demonstration.
Website analytics and cookies
We use privacy-friendly analytics and Google Analytics to understand activity on this website. Google Analytics uses cookies. Website analytics are separate from the call recordings, transcripts and summaries created when someone speaks with a receptionist.
You can contact [email protected] about information associated with your use of the site. Tell us whether your question concerns a website visit, a demo or a customer account so we can understand the request. For a call to another business, identify that business as well.
Providers that support the service
We use service providers for hosting and storage, telephone service, voice and text AI models, payment processing, email delivery and analytics. These categories support the website and the work your receptionist performs. For example, telephone providers carry calls and email providers deliver call notifications.
Our AI model provider, OpenAI, does not use our API data to train its models by default. We do not sell personal information. We also do not use callers' information for our own marketing, including information collected when they reach a customer's business after hours.
How long records are kept
Call recordings are kept for the period the customer business chooses: 30 or 90 days. We delete recordings after that selected period. The choice concerns recordings, so it should be considered separately from the transcript and summary retention described next.
We keep transcripts and summaries while the account is open. We delete them within 30 days after the account closes, or on request. If your request concerns a particular call, tell us which business received it so we can identify the customer relationship involved.
Access, correction, deletion and opt-out requests
You can request access, correction, deletion or an opt-out by emailing [email protected]. California residents can also contact us about privacy rights that apply to them. Describe what you want to access or change and whether you are a visitor, customer or caller.
Callers can send requests to the business they called or contact us directly. The business decides what is collected for its calls and why, and we handle that information on its behalf. Our data processing terms form part of the terms of service for customer businesses.
Children and policy updates
This website and service are not for children under 13. If your privacy question concerns information about a child, email our privacy address with the details needed to explain the concern. Use the same address for questions about this policy.
We date policy changes on this page so you can identify the version you are reading. Review the terms for using your receptionist for the customer responsibilities that accompany these data practices. You can also try a fictional call in the browser to see how a recorded demonstration works before opening an account.
